We analyzed 527 doctors' offices across nine Greater Toronto Area cities. Nearly nine in ten, 86.1%, have no website at all.
Interestingly, family and specialist practices lag well behind dental offices, which sit at 68%. Both are health practices people research, but dentists market for new patients far more actively, and it shows. Most GTA doctors' offices give a prospective patient nothing to find online.
Key takeaways
- 86.1% of the 527 GTA doctors' offices analyzed have no website.
- Mississauga is the toughest market (93.0% with no site); Hamilton is the strongest (78.1%).
- With most direct competitors absent online, a fast, mobile-friendly site is enough to be the business customers actually find.
Why this matters for doctors' offices
Even where a practice is not actively seeking patients, a website does real work. It tells people whether you are accepting patients, what the hours are, how to reach the office, how to handle prescriptions and referrals, and what to do after hours. Without it, all of that lands on the front desk by phone, over and over.
For practices that are growing or specialists who take referrals, the site is also a credibility and clarity tool. Patients and referring doctors check you online, and a clear, professional page confirms the practice is current and well run.
Doctors' offices with no website, by city
The pattern flips from dentistry here: Mississauga, one of the strongest markets for dental websites, is the weakest for doctors' offices at 93% with no site. (Cities with too few mapped offices to report on their own are included in the overall figure.)
| City | Doctors' offices | % with no website |
|---|---|---|
| Mississauga | 86 | 93.0% |
| Brampton | 55 | 89.1% |
| Toronto | 288 | 83.7% |
| Hamilton | 32 | 78.1% |
What a doctors' office website should have
- Whether you are accepting new patients, front and center
- Hours, location, and how to reach the office
- Prescription refill, referral, and after-hours instructions
- Practitioner bios and any specialties

Methodology
Figures come from 527 doctors' offices listed on OpenStreetMap, pulled via the Overpass API in June 2026 across nine GTA cities. "No website" means no website is recorded in OpenStreetMap, so the absolute rate is an upper bound; the comparisons are reliable because the same data gap applies to every market.
